Over the past couple of weeks we have been looking into some figures which just didnt add up. Specifically the gardening contracts in place and the 2022 budget Oaklands had set aside for this.
Long story short - Oaklands have missed £1000 from this years budget for the gardening contract. Blaming a lack of knowledge due to the current contract manager only taking over in June. This is despite the fact that Oaklands set the gardening contract up and had full details of it. Ged at Oaklands has now admitted the mistake, however this doesn’t fix the problem..
Within our current budget we now are at risk of running a estimated £1090 deficit by year end unless we make some changes. As such, we are reviewing the tender for the gardening contract and also the frequency of visits - potentially changing 2 weekly grass cutting to 3 weekly and similar changes where minimal impact will occur to the estate. We are also on the back of this basic error again looking for a new management company to take over from Oaklands. Until one is found and agreed Oaklands will remain in place but as im sure everyone will agree - controlling the budget is the main reason we have them in place and this has failed.
As and when we change things we will let people know, but a heads up for now. We will be doing all we can to ensure we finish the year within budget - regardless of the challenges Oaklands have laid.
